THIS CAN BE HARD.
This is likely not what you want to hear, but you are not alone. Education is in real-time; thus, related decisions can be a challenging process. You may already have the backpacks packed and ready to go! If your children are thriving in the neighborhood schools, that is fantastic! If any issues arise, know that I am here for you. I'm here because most schools were built in a similar fashion and intended to support the majority of children through consistency. If there are 2,000,000,000 children in the world, what about the 999,999,999 children that do not make up the majority? If you look into the history of public education, it is easy to conclude that the main issue was accessibility. For a long time, the goal was to make sure that any child could attend school. Here's a quick article pull (eduhistory.pdf) that I have nothing to do with, other than skimming it and deeming it worthy of providing you with a brief background on the history of education. As you likely already knew, there was a time when children could only attend school based on factors, some listed in this article, such as race and socioeconomic status. Now there are all these bills and acts and such to make it so every child can go to school. Thankfully, those bills exist. Actually, it's hard for me to write that because while yes, they did something, they also did nothing. This is a frame-of-reference (physics nerd here, sorry) issue that will likely never go away. Let me explain through examples directly from me- not from AI, not from a book, just me (names changed)- Public education works well for many students by providing consistent access to learning and social development, but it doesn’t meet everyone’s needs. Differences in learning styles, neurodiversity, trauma, or life circumstances can make traditional systems inaccessible or ineffective, highlighting the need for more flexible, individualized approaches. School should be a garden, not just a staircase. Children need room to grow in all directions, at different rhythms. Your questions may be evolving into: Which learning environment supports my child? Where can my child breathe without suppression? Does the school honor questions over answers? Does it allow for silent integration rather than constant performance? Does it support neurodivergent, cultural, and linguistic learning needs? |
Please feel free to message me: [email protected]. I may be able to assist with some skip logic and resonance-based decisions for your child and the schools in the area.
The most important questions cannot be answered through a website, an evaluation, or a tour. I am rushing this page to life (July 19, 2025), as inspired by chatting with parents in settings where we can survive the Arizona heat while getting our kids what they need! My in-person classroom teaching experience is almost entirely in Phoenix, Arizona. My graduate degrees are global, though paradigmatic. The information I provide is based on what I know through my education, teaching experiences, friend/family experiences, and parenting my own children. |
