You're doing a great job.

JH Earth & Space Sciences Research Project Overview

You are becoming a scientist and designer.
  • Panicking is not rational at this point because I haven't given you details; this document is an overview.
  • Your job is to research a real scientific topic, then show your understanding by creating an infographic.
  • This project is to be done independently, which means you are responsible for your individual work.
    • It is not independent in the sense of “figure it out by yourself.”
    • I will be teaching and supporting - every step of the way - that’s why I’m here.
  • Each section must be completed and approved before moving on.
  • Make bulleted lists throughout the planning process - this is what I will be checking.
    • No, you can’t use your planning documents as your final project.
    • No, I will not answer your question right now because I know what you're going to ask; your answers are going to come out of my mouth organically if you're paying attention.
Purpose
  • Explain a real scientific idea clearly.
  • Show how scientists learned about it.
  • Use evidence from reliable sources.
  • Create a model that represents how something works.
  • Connect science to the real world.
Before you create, be able to:
  • Identify key science vocabulary surrounding your topic.
  • Explain how scientists know what they know.
  • Make connections to real life.
  • Follow your Project Planning Checklist.
  • Once all sections are approved, you will unlock the build phase.
Your poster must:
  • Have a rough draft on normal paper - brainstorm where items will fit on the poster.
  • Represent a scientific process or structure.
  • Be accurate, not just decorative.
  • Help someone else understand the science.
  • Match what you researched.
Your model must:
  • Represent the scientific process or structure that you researched.
  • Be accurate, not just decorative.
  • Be able to help someone else understand your area of expertise.
